She had met Washington through their mutual worship at Christ Church and she had sewn buttons for him previously. The 3 showed her a suggested design that was drawn up by Washington in pencil. The design had six-pointed stars, and Betsy suggested five-pointed stars instead because she could make a five-pointed star in one snip. The flag was sewn by Betsy in her parlor and flown when the Declaration of Independence was read aloud at Independence Hall on July 8, 1776. | | | |

Timeless Classic Mar 26, 2008
By Bernard Chapin
"Ora Et Labora!"
If you're a history guy like me then you'll totally value the beauty of the Betsy Ross American Flag which features the stars laid out in a circle. From what I've read, the design was not first seen until the 1790's. I ended up buying a straight up modern Old Glory as well, but really I prefer this one to the 50 stater. It's simpler and more dignified.
In my view it happens to be the most picturesque of our early flags and it honors my wall. Further, 2008 is an important year for our country. I think it is essential that those of us who recall the past with admiration and fondness express openly our devotion to this magnificent nation.
The one thing I'll share here is that this flag is not rugged enough (its polyester as opposed to nylon) for daily outdoor usage. If you want to get something to swing from the back porch then you're going to have to throw down about 40 bucks based on what I've seen. That may be worth it though as the pattern is immaculate and defines the word "gravitas."

Use a variety of Colonial era flags. Good price and quick delivery. Only negative is UV eats these flags up but pricing makes replacement easier.

Good Flag for the money Jun 08, 2009

These flags are a best buy for the Home or Classroom. They are well stiched and will last a long time indoors and at least 2 years outdoors full time.

Inexpensive= very cheap product Jul 13, 2010

Bought this as it was a great price but you get what you pay for. This is a printed flag that is so thin you can see through it. The blue field has some small white spots where the blue didn't take to the fabric well. Given the price it looks ok from far away and serves it purpose, a holiday/occasional use flag.

13 Stars Jul 24, 2010
By R R Richards This is a great flag, much more than I expected for the price. I live on a lake and we get some high winds, it's been waving 24 hours a day all summer, and still in perfect shape.
